Lake Mills woman gets deferred judgement for rampage at hospital

MASON CITY – A Lake Mills woman who was accused of assault in that town and later brought to the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room where she allegedly lashed out at staff and caused hundreds of dollars in damages to property has received deferred judgements and dismissed charges in the case.

Gabriel Everetts, age 25, had been taken to the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room on December 27, 2014. She had been booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail earlier that morning on assault charges out of Winnebago county, by Lake Mills police.

According to police, Everetts was in the emergency room for unknown reasons and became disorderly.

“She allegedly assaulted staff members trying to assist her and damaged some property in the exam area,” police said.

Damage estimate was approximately $1,500. She now stands accused of four crimes: Assault with intent to inflict serious injury; second degree criminal mischief; and two counts of assault while participating in a felony.

Everetts entered not guilty pleas to the charges against her. On March 25, judge Annette Boehlje handed down deferred judgements for the charges of Assault with intent to inflict serious injury (amended to willful injury); second degree criminal mischief (amended to third degree criminal mischief); and two counts of assault while participating in a felony, which were both dismissed. Everetts was given 2 years of probation and ordered to pay $1,110.50 in fines and court costs. She must also submit a DNA sample.

Everetts, as of Saturday night, April 25, is back in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, charged with public intoxication.  She is still facing numerous charges out of Winnebago county.
