Alcohol lands Charles City man in jail, again

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man who has been jailed numerous times in the past for alcohol-related crimes was jailed again last week.

Charles City police officers were called to a disturbance on the afternoon of April 17 in the 900 block of 13th Street. Upon arrival, officers arrested 58-year-old convicted felon Michael Handt on a charge of aggravated misdemeanor third or subsequent offense public intoxication. He was taken to the county jail, processed and released as he awaits a May 8 court date.

Handt has been charged with the same crime, most recently in 2012 in Cerro Gordo county. He is a multi-convicted drunk driver, resulting in a felony in 2006, in which he lost his driver’s license for 6 years.
