NIACC faces Iowa Central in NJCAA Region XI-B tournament Friday

niacc_trojans_logoBOONE – The fifth-seeded NIACC softball team faces third-seeded Iowa Central at 4 p.m. Friday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI-B tournament.

The winner of the NIACC/Iowa Central game faces second-seed DMACC or sixth-seed Iowa Lakes at 2 p.m. Saturday. The loser of the NIACC/Iowa Central game faces the DMACC/Iowa Lakes loser at noon on Saturday in the double-elimination tournament.

NIACC (17-28 overall, 8-16 in the ICCAC) was 0-4 against Iowa Central (40-17, 15-9) in the ICCAC season and also dropped a pair of nonconference games to the Tritons.
The championship game is set for noon on Sunday with a second championship game if necessary set for 2 p.m.

Top-seed Kirkwood, fourth-seed Southwestern and seventh-seed Ellsworth play in the NJCAA Region XI-A tournament on Saturday and Sunday in Cedar Rapids.

The winner of the NJCAA Region XI-A championship hosts the winner of NJCAA Region IX in the district G chamionship and the winner of the NJCAA Region XI-B championship plays at the NJCAA Region XIII winner in the district H championship.

The winners of the district titles advance to the NJCAA Division II World Series May 13-16 in Clinton, Miss.
