Speeding drunk driver brought to jail

MASON CITY – A man traveling at least 90 miles per hour with an open container of booze was stopped and arrested by multiple law enforcement agencies early Friday.

An Iowa State Patrol Trooper requested assistance with an uncooperative subject after he made a traffic stop on Interstate 35 at the 179 mile marker in Cerro Gordo county Friday morning at about 3:30 AM. The suspect in the vehicle, 27-year-old Joshua Marshman, was traveling at least 90 miles per hour. During the course of the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, an open container of alcohol was discovered, and Marshman could produce no proof of insurance. Later, he also became uncooperative with the trooper, and a Mason City police officer and a Cerro Gordo deputy assisted with his arrest.

Marshman – address unknown – is being held on $2,000 cash bond at this time in the county jail as he awaits a hearing on April 24. He is charged with first offense operating while intoxicated, no insurance, and open container of alcohol.
