Mason City man convicted on theft charge, accused of violating probation

MASON CITY – A Mason City man arrested last year for theft pled guilty and was given probation before he was accused this month of violating that arrangement.

Valentine Louie Flores, age 39, was arrested by Mason City police in August of 2014 on a charge of third degree theft. He pled guilty in February and was given a 365 day jail sentence with all but four days suspended, a $625 fine which was suspended, a year of probation, and was ordered to pay $2,693.00 in restitution and court costs. Flores is now accused of violating that probation and a warrant for his arrest was issued earlier this month.

On April 15, Mason City police responded to a possible domestic situation at the 1400 block of North Federal Avenue. At that location, they discovered Flores, and he was arrested. A probation revocation hearing was set for April 29, and Flores was released on bond as he awaits the court date.

Flores has spent time at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility on at least two occasions, and been accused of a number of felonies and other serious crimes related to dealing meth, felony theft, felony first degree robbery, domestic abuse with a weapon, habitual driving while barred, and more.
