MASON CITY – Law enforcement was called to a Mason City retail store Wednesday evening and arrived just in time to nab a man accused of stealing.
Loss prevention at the Kohl’s department store, 556 Indianhead Drive, made an emergency call at about 7:41 PM Wednesday, April 1 to alert police of an apparent shoplifter. Mason City police were en route when a Cerro Gordo deputy arrived first and spotted the suspect, 24-year-old Tyler Anton Meuer, running from the store. The deputy made the arrest of Meuer and transferred him to MCPD officers. He was charged with third degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor, and taken to jail.
Meuer is being held in the county jail on $2,000 bond at this time. He last pleaded guilty to third degree theft in 2013 (as well as in 2011). Records show he owes Iowa courts the entire $946.13 a judge ordered him to pay in that case.
