MASON CITY – A Mason City man recently convicted of sexual acts with a child has found himself behind bars for violating his lenient sentence.
On December 6, 2013, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated a reported case of sexual contact between an adult and a juvenile. A search warrant was executed at a residence, 413 Prairie View Ct, in Mason City. As a result of the investigation, Lane Bryan Sage, then age 20, was arrested. Sage was charged with 7 felony sex crimes. In January of this year, he entered a guilty plea to just one charge – sexual abuse in the third degree against a female child 12-13 years of age. He was given a 10 year suspended prison term, a $1,000 suspended fine, and 5 years of probation. He was also ordered to pay $8,975.00 in court costs, fines ($250) and restitution. He was placed in the Beje Clark halfway house.
On March 24, the Iowa Department of Corrections reported to law enforcement that Sage had violated his probation and a warrant for his arrest was issued. Mason City police arrested him at Beje Clark and he was taken to jail and held on $10,000 bond. He will face a probation revocation hearing on April 20, 2015.
