Charles City felon arrested for shoplifting

CHARLES CITY – Police were called to a Charles City business Thursday to deal with a shoplifter and took a felon to jail.

Employees at a business in Charles City at the 1400 block of South Grand Avenue alerted police to a possible shoplifter at about 12:48 PM Thursday, March 5. Upon arrival, officers discovered 31-year-old Isaia Weber of Charles City and determined that he had attempted to steal from the business. Weber was placed under arrest on a charge of 4th degree theft and taken to jail. He was released Friday as he awaits a court date.

Weber was convicted of a felony drug offense in Floyd county in 2006. After a number of probation violations, he was sent to prison and ultimately to the Beje Clark halfway house in Mason City, where he eventually escaped before being arrested again. He had been ordered to pay $2,315.33 in fines and court fees for his drug conviction, bust so far has paid just $133.66, and collections continue to this day.
