NIT – In a scandal that just keeps getting worse for former First Lady and assumed Democratic front-running 2016 candidate for President Hillary Clinton, she has now asked the State Department to release emails she had kept hidden on a private server.

“I want the public to see my email,” Clinton wrote via social media. “I asked State to release them. They said they will review them for release as soon as possible.”

It has recently been revealed that Hillary Clinton had set up a private email server for use while she was Secretary of State during President Obama’s first term. She avoided use of a government email account, an account that would be much more open to public records requests than her private email accounts. This kind of behavior is sometimes seen at all levels of government, when officials wish to lead a more secret existence despite their status as a public official.

“The State Department will review for public release the emails provided by Secretary Clinton to the Department, using a normal process that guides such releases,” a State Department spokeswoman said. “We will undertake this review as quickly as possible; given the sheer volume of the document set, this review will take some time to complete.”

The review could take months to complete before any emails are released.

The use of a private email server has raised questions as to why Clinton wished to avoid public records requests or attain a level of secrecy. National security concerns have also been raised.

What is your opinion on Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State?
