WEBSTER CITY – The man accused of taking the life a little girl will go on trial this week as a jury is selected to hear the facts in a murder case against Casey Frederiksen, formerly of Floyd.
Frederiksen, age 35, is serving a federal prison sentence for child pornography and drug charges. He was the caretaker of 5-year-old Evelyn Miller back in 2005 when she went missing as her mother was at work. Her lifeless body was pulled from the Cedar River after an intense search that lasted several days.
After a long investigation, Frederiksen was charged with first degree murder and first degree sexual assault. Pre-trial publicity moved the trial out of Floyd county to Hamilton county.
Jury selection will begin Monday morning and the trial could last weeks.
