MASON CITY – A Mason City man arrested last year for assault causing injury has pleaded guilty, and then allegedly violated the court-imposed no-contact order in the case just two days later.
Tyler Nicholas Thompson, age 18, was arrested by Mason City police on October 27, 2014 on a charge of serious assault causing injury. He pleaded guilty to that charge on February 23 and received a 365 day jail term with 335 days suspended. He was also placed on probation for two years and ordered to pay $892.75 in fines and court costs. That day in court, the judge modified the no-contact order with the victim to expire a year later.
On February 25, 2015, Mason City police were called to 215 7th Street NE for a family offense and dispute. Upon arrival they discovered Thompson at the scene. He was arrested for violating the no-contact order in his assault case. He awaits a March 5 hearing and could face an additional 7 days in jail.
