McKesson describes itself at “the oldest and largest health care services company in the nation … playing an integral role in health care and has a unique vision for its future. We serve more than 50% of American hospitals, 20% of physicians and 100% of health plans, and as the largest pharmaceutical distributor in North America, we deliver one-third of all medications used there every day. Our software, distribution and business services play an essential role in addressing the challenges health care organizations face today — and shaping how they’ll overcome them tomorrow. We connect people and organizations, support the quest for higher quality and improved clinical outcomes, and help health care businesses run better. And that supports better patient health.”

The distribution center is located in the Luker Memorial Industrial Park on Lots 6 & 7. The site is 39 acres.

Regarding its expertise in distribution of pharmaceuticals, McKesson described it as “the heart and soul of its business.”

According to a recent article on McKesson, “through a network of 30 distribution centers across the United States, the company provides branded, generic and over-the-coun- ter medications to more than 40,000 clients, ranging from major pharmacy chains to inde- pendent drug stores and institu- tional customers.”

“As much as we don’t want to be known simply as a distributor of pharmaceuticals and other products, that really is at the core of what we do and have to be exceptional at every single day,” says Mark Walchirk, who became president of McKesson U.S Pharmaceutical last September. “So we continue to upgrade our infrastructure, whether it’s investing in new facilities in our network, new technologies to reduce costs in our distribution centers, or specific automation to advance productivity and improve qual- ity. Everything we do is geared toward making our customers confident that they are receiving a product and a service that are really second to none.”

McKesson’s distribution centers maintain peak efficiency by breaking down bulk deliveries from suppliers and then repackaging and redistributing them to the com- pany’s frontline distribution cen- ters based on customer needs and current purchasing trends.

Serta already cant find saps to work their crazy hours for peanuts…
Now what will they do????

When will they start hiring? I can’t find that information in the article. I would also like to know what the starting wage will be (not the “average” wage) for an untrained worker.

@JMO-I heard on KIMT today that it is going to take ten years to get to 169 people. They have not finished the building yet.

Maybe they will raise the bar and not go after “untrained” workers?

@Polio-I am willing to bet they are going to be extremely picky about who they hire. I will bet they will have to be very clean with no record.

This is great news for Clear Lake. Good job to their City leaders.

Great News for Clear Lake. What has Mason City done? Oh yea, they are making two sanitation workers do another part time job. And they are going to allow a un-need hotel to build and create a bunch of part time minimum wage jobs.

LVS I couldn’t agree with you more. We have gotten a new Mayor and City council and things have gotten worse for Mason City. Goes to show you it takes more then a mayor that can talk crap about being a head hunter to get things done. Fed-Ex must not be very picky on the class of people they hire as managers either. Nothing but a lot of BS and no results.

@RUKIDDING-I couldn’t agree with you more. We had a chance to vote in a council that would have supported the everyday people but the lazy voters didn’t get out and vote and this is what we are stuck with.

Great news for Clear Lake. Every town around Mason City is moving forward, while Mason City is going in reverse. Mason City will become the slum city riddled with crime, no jobs, and horrible city government. Oh wait, we have that now. Congratulations to Clear Lake and it’s leaders for making this happen!

OK….its 12:08PM How long before the bashing starts?

Congratulations to Clear Lake and everyone involved for landing this deal. Good job!!!
