NIACC women’s track team sets two school records

niacc_trojans_logoCEDAR FALLS – The NIACC women’s track and field team set two indoor school records at Friday’s Jack Jennett Invitational on the Northern Iowa campus.

Sophomore Hannah Palmeter won the mile in a school-record time of 5 minutes, 9.87 seconds. Also, freshman Ellen Padmore placed third in the 400-meter dash in a school-record time of 1:00.25.

Palmeter broke the old mile record of 5:11.22 held by Anna Buenneke in 2011. The old 400 mark was 1:01.11 held by Tanesha Edmond in 2011.

NIACC’s Adrine Monagi won the 60 in a time of 7.82 seconds, which qualified her for the NJCAA national indoor meet. Monagi also placed second in the 200 (26.30).
Also for the NIACC women, Rellie Kaputin tied for second in the high jump (1.62 meters). Morgan Meyer placed third in the 600 (1:45.84).

For the NIACC men, John Enright won the 600 in 1:23.15, which qualified him for the national meet. Trey Simons placed second in the 800 in 1:56.57 and Imad Amenzou was fifth in the 800 (1:59.47) and both qualified for nationals.

Amenzou won the mile in 4:27.56 and Brad Petersen was second in the 400 (52.41).
NIACC returns to action Feb. 7 at the Grinnell Invitational.

600 – John Enright (1:23.15, UNI). 800 – Trey Simons (1:56.57, UNI); Imad Amenzou (1:59.57, UNI). 1,000 – Imad Amenzou (2:36.79, Minnesota State).

Women
60 – Adrine Monagi (7.82, UNI). Mile – Hannah Palmeter (5:09.87, UNI). High jump – Rellie Kaputin (5-5 3/4, Dubuque); Monagi (5-1 3/4, Dubuque). Long jump – Kaputin (18-4 1/4, Dubuque). Shot put – LaBrisha Michael (41-1, Cornell).
