MASON CITY – The NIACC Board of Directors will meet on February 4, 2015 for a special meeting to select the bid for work to construct a health sciences simulation lab.

According to information from NIACC staff, the health sciences simulation (SIM) lab will provide students with real-world learning opportunities and experiences. The SIM lab will allow for practice examinations, medical techniques, and emergency simulations in an environment that looks and feels like a real medical facility. The project will not only support NIACC students, but local health professionals and volunteer emergency medical personnel who must meet professional development and state licensing requirements. As part of this effort, NIACC will recapture and renovate space on campus to create this facility. This project will be funded using the current 20 ½ levy and private donations.

The estimated cost of the project is $850,000.
