MOUNT VERNON – Freshman Imad Amenzou placed first in the 800 and first in the mile at the Cornell Invitational Saturday.
Amenzou, who is from Marshalltown, won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 00.00 seconds. NIACC’s Trey Simons was a close second in 2:00.05.
Amenzou also won the mile in 4:28.67 as the Trojans placed fourth in the 6-team meet with 59 points.
Also for the NIACC men, freshman Tyler Randall, who ran at Osage, was second in the 5,000 in 17:34.24.
For the NIACC women, sophomore Rellie Kaputin won the high jump (5 feet, 3 3/4 inches) and won the long jump (18-4 1/2). The Lady Trojans, who were third with 81 points, also received first-place finishes from Ellen Padmore in the 400 (1:01.21) and LaBrisha Michael in the shot put (41-1).
Also for the Lady Trojans, sophomore Hannah Palmeter was second in the mile (5:26.80) and fourth in the 800 (2:27.96) and sophomore Adrine Monagi was second in the high jump (5-1 3/4).
