WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. – Iowa’s misery in road games against Purdue continued this weekend, as Iowa lost its second-straight game, this one a 67-63 loss to Purdue.
Purdue improved to 87-73 all-time against Iowa and have won seven straight games against Iowa at Mackey Arena. Purdue coach Matt Painter improved to 12-5 against the Hawkeyes, having won 12 of the last 15 meetings.
Hawkeye senior forward Aaron White was injured and did not get to play a lot of minutes Saturday in the contest.
“I was in a lot of pain,” White said after he hurt his right shoulder. “I tried to go back in after it happened, thinking that if I got back loose it would loosen up and I could help the time. But I reached for the ball and had a popping feeling and pain down my neck, but I’ll be alright.”
Iowa was outscored in the paint, 38-24. However, Iowa’s 24 offensive rebounds were the most for a Purdue opponent since they allowed 27 offensive rebounds to Miami (Fla.) on March 14, 1999.
Iowa trailed 34-24 at halftime.
Iowa returns to action when it hosts nationally-ranked Wisconsin on Jan. 31. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
