CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Law enforcement has arrested the suspected shooter in an incident that occurred earlier this month at a Cedar Rapids Wal-Mart.
At 4:41 PM yesterday afternoon, Cedar Rapids Police Officers engaged in a foot pursuit of the suspect in the 1000 block of 10th Street SE. A perimeter was established and a K-9 unit attempted a track of the suspect in the area.
The suspect, identified as 20 year-old Brandon Fitzgerald Johnson of Cedar Rapids, was taken into custody at 5:12 p.m. behind a home in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue SE. Johnson was brought to the Police Station for questioning and later transported to the Linn County Jail on charges of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Interference with Official Acts, Driving While Barred, and Proof of Insurance violation.
An ongoing investigation by the Police Department determined that Johnson was the individual who fired several rounds in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart store on January 7th. No was injured and no property damage was reported, however the store was open at the time of the shooting.
