A pit bull dog attacked its two owners who live at a rental duplex at 215 South Monroe Avenue, an area of town that over the past year has seen plenty of violence. This latest episode erupted Tuesday night after 9 PM when a pit bull dog for unknown reasons attacked two persons and did not stop until at least one of the persons repeatedly stabbed the animal in an effort to stop the animal from mauling them further.
“The residents’ pitbull bit two of the residents causing serious injuries on both,” a Mason City police spokesman told NIT. “Apparently one of the residents stabbed the dog repeatedly to try and get it to stop attacking the other resident.”
The two persons then made an emergency 911 call. Police arrived quickly and then were eventually able to “capture the aggressive dog” and take it to the city shelter for quarantine.
Both residents did require medical treatment for their injuries and were taken to Mercy Hospital.
A drive past the residence where the incident took place showed a large, thick, heavy chain attached to a tree in the front yard with several feet of it laying in the snow and grass. A Christmas wreath was in a front window. In the back, a decked-out bright yellow low-riding pickup truck was parking behind the garage. Trash, debris, garbage and loose food and containers were strewn all about. Several adjacent homes had junk and debris littered about as well.
I will never understand people dressing up their pets. I saw a show on the Animal Planet network quite some time ago with a couple of professional dog trainers and they said it’s cruel to dress up a dog. They aren’t meant to wear clothing and it’s restricting to them. I can see a little sweater after a winter grooming for the car ride home. But why do people think that a dog needs to be dressed.
Why doesn’t Dallas Lewis step up and be a man and tell us all what REALLY happened that night because I just cant fathom the fact that the dog who also allowed you to dress him up as a princess just all of a sudden go into attack mode. “You the boss”, now your dog is dead you idiot! And why in the hell didn’t the cops get the dog treatment?? What the hell is wrong with this picture?
Is MC really that against animal justice? We have a Animal control officer who apparently cant do her job she rather euthanize a dog instead of investigating THE FACTS. We have police officers who were on scene of this attack that didn’t notice a huge chain outside tied to a tree (that should give you some clue of abuse/neglect) The dog was stabbed and probably left to slowly die at the shelter! WTF?
Whose dog was it? they were prolly teaching it to fight and harms others.
The area has gone to pot. They should just bulldoze it down.
