MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team is ranked 9th in the NJCAA Division II poll released Thursday.
NIACC (13-4 overall, 3-1 in the ICCAC) was ranked seventh in the preseason poll, was ranked second in the Dec. 3, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17 polls, were seventh in the Jan. 7 poll and 10th in the Jan. 14 poll.
It’s the 18th consecutive poll that the NIACC women have been ranked in the top 10. The Lady Trojans entered the polls in the 2013-14 season at No. 3 in the second poll of the season and remained in the top three for the remainder of the season.
Last season, the NIACC women were ranked No. 1 in seven polls, spent three weeks at No. 2 and one week at No. 3.
Ranked ahead of NIACC in this week’s poll are (in order) Johnson County CC (19-0), Parkland College (17-1), Owens CC (18-1), Kirkwood (15-4), Illinois Central (19-2), Monroe CC (15-1), Kansas City (Kansas) CC (17-2) and Highland CC (17-1).
