WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Republican Party has chosen Joni Ernst to deliver the Republican response to President Obama’s State of the Union speech next week.
“I am truly honored to announce that I will be delivering the Republican Address to the country following the President’s State of the Union address,” Ernst said. “It’s a long way from Red Oak to Washington, but now that I am here, I am excited to get to work to craft and implement real solutions as we chart a new path forward for our great nation.”
Ernst is newly-elected to the U.S. Senate after a nasty election last fall, defeating Bruce Braley. She was sworn-in this week and has been busy playing up her hog farmer mystique. She already received a hog castration device on a plaque from Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina. Some say she is making Iowans look like backwater hillbillies, while other say she is a shrewd politician and making herself a household name.
