Iowa man receives gunshot wound while deer hunting Sunday

12_Gauge_Shotgun_Shells_SLUGMARION COUNTY, IA – A Pleasantville man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while deer hunting Sunday morning south of Knoxville.

Joe Roff, 37, was hit in the leg by the shotgun slug fired at a moving deer by a member of his hunting party. The slug went over the crest of a hill before hitting him in the right calf.

Roff was taken to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics and later transferred to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines where he was treated for a non life-threatening injury.
