unnamedCLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior placekicker Michael Schmadeke has been named the 2014 FCS ADA Top Collegiate Placekicker as part of their All-America team, it was announced today by the Athletic Directors Association.

Schmadeke is one of 11 student-athletes from around the country chosen for the prestigious award and one of five athletes representing the Missouri Valley Football Conference on the All-America team. The second annual award recognized the top student-athletes from FCS institutions at 11 different positions. Voting was conducted by a national panel consisting of media and SIDs.

The Waterloo, Iowa native finished the regular season leading all placekickers (FBS and FCS) in points. He led the team through all 14 games in scoring, finishing the season with a school record 132 points.

The FCS record wasn’t the only record that Schmadeke downed this season. During the Panthers’ 50-7 rout of the Tenneessee Tech Golden Eagles, the junior broke the school record for points in a game by a kicker with his 20, also tying the school record in field goals made with five.

He was named MVFC Special Teams Player of the Week three times and was also honored with National Player of the Week from several different sport organizations four times throughout the season.

This marks the fourth All-America honor this season. Along with today’s selection, he has also been named to the AP and AFCA All-America first-teams and the College Sports Madness All-America third-team.
