Rivera faces drunk driving, homicide by vehicle charges in accident that took MC man’s life

MASON CITY – Formal charges have now been brought against the driver of a pickup truck that allegedly struck a Mason City man and woman as they rode a motorcycle last month.

Victor Rivera, age 47, has been jailed since the hit-and-run accident back on November 22. Jefferson Davis, age 43, was killed when the Harley-Davidson motorcycle he was operating was allegedly struck by a pick-up truck driven by Rivera, a wanted man. A passenger on the Harley, 40-year-old Nicole Lynn Shariff of Mason City, was seriously injured as a result of the collision. She was hospitalized at Mercy and is now recovering.

On Monday, December 15, formal charges against Rivera were entered, including homicide by vehicle – operating under the influence; serious injury by vehicle; and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.  He remains jailed in the county jail.

Rivera, formerly of Minneapolis but calling the North End of Mason City his home, was caught by police after the fatal accident, which occurred at Highway 122 and Pierce Avenue. He was stopped and arrested by numerous law enforcement officers in a North End street, where he resisted arrest, NIT is told.  Stop sticks were employed to stop his vehicle.

Rivera had been wanted since April of this year in connection to an incident in Clear Lake where he was charged with felonies. On Saturday, February 1, 2014, Clear Lake police said Rivera brandished a large knife at an apartment complex and threatened to harm others. He later entered an apartment with the knife searching for a man he had been fighting with. Police arrived and physically restrained Rivera and took him to jail.  He had been released pending court dates but failed to appear.

Is he an illeagel ?

@bad-I don’t think he is illegal. At least it doesn’t say so on his booking report or in the article. Pretty sure he has drug ties though.

I sure wish we had the death penalty for dirt bag killers. He really doesn’t need to live.

Where is the resisting arrest charge? Throw the book at this dirtbag and lock him up for a long, long time.
