Nora Springs man charged with felony theft of $10K skid loader

MASON CITY – A Nora Springs man and Manly bar owner is charged by Mason City police in the theft of a $10,000 skid loader.

Joseph John Siems, age 41, was in possession of a skid loader that police said is worth $10,000. They said it was recently stolen fro the Des Moines area.

A source familiar with the situation told NIT that Siems was trying to sell the skid loader on the Craiglist website and police had an undercover officer as the buyer. The deal was said to have gone down at the Menard’s parking lot in Mason City. Later that night, according to the source, the police did a search warrant on a trailer belonging to a relative of Siems’ that was parked at the Thirsty Dog in Manly, owned by Siems. After searching the trailer, the police hooked onto it and towed it away with a pickup truck. They also impounded Siems’ Chevy truck, the source said.

Siems was arrested on December 3 and charged with felony first degree theft. He posted $10,000 surety bond the next day and was released pending a December 19 court date.

Joe S I wasn’t trying to belittle you, if indeed you did all of this everything well work out, the sad part is it will cost $$$$ for attorneys to sort this mess out. Good Luck man. Also only commenting on what was written.

To clear up a little more info for the curious minds out there. The trailer, (correctly reported as not owned by us), was in fact taken from our bar parking lot and searched and then re-packed with its contents and now it sitting right back up in the same parking lot it was taken from, in Manly, before this Farse started.

Well Fubar, as cute as I’m sure you think you are, I don’t appreciate your comment.
This is Joe Siems and yes, we did trade for a skid loader, months ago, near Dubuque, IA. Before deciding to trade, we had the serial # checked out with both our area Bobcat Dealers as well the Dubuque area authorities. All those came back clear. After this matter is cleared up, I’ll list them all with dates, phone numbers and contact info for those who seem to know it all.

let me guess, you didn’t know it was stolen, you got it from someone that owed you a bar bill, you won it in a card game! Have fun getting out of this. Trouble is as trouble does.
