UNI Wrestling splits Indiana Tech, Purdue duals

logo_uni_panthersWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – UNI wrestling shut out Indiana Tech 44-0 to tie the Panthers’ longest winning streak since 1956-57.

Purdue ended the 14-win streak with a 21-15 win over UNI. The Panthers were coming off an undefeated 2013-14 season with 13 wins. UNI is now 1-1 in duals. Both duals were held at Purdue Sunday.

Dylan Peters was on the mat for about three minutes all weekend, notching first-period falls against Erique Early of Indiana Tech and Purdue’s Aaron Assad.

The Panthers got three more falls in the Indiana Tech dual from Levi Wolfensperger, Jarrett Jensen and Blaize Cabell.

UNI gained a lot of momentum off the Indiana Tech dual winning bonus points in six matches, but Purdue went on a run UNI couldn’t overcome.

Peters, Cooper Moore, Curt Maas and Cabell were the only Panthers to win both of their duals. Peters and Maas remain undefeated this season.

Jared Bartel took No. 8 Braden Atwood of Purdue into a tiebreaker, but fell 4-1.
