Waterloo cops chase felon with loaded gun

WATERLOO – Waterloo police chased a felon into a house, where he locked himself inside with a loaded hand gun.

On Saturday, November 15, 2014 at approximately 8 PM, officers with the Waterloo Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team attempted to make contact with 24-year-old Shane Quinn Burt and subjects in a vehicle in the 100 block of Argyle St. As Officers attempted to make contact with them reference an investigation, Burt fled on foot and ran into 118 Argyle St. where he locked the door on officers. Upon making entry, Burt was taken into custody. While in the residence, officers observed evidence in plain view and a search warrant was obtained. During the incident, officers seized a loaded .45 semi-auto handgun, .44 caliber ammunition and a quantity of marijuana along with other items in the residence. As a result of the investigation, Burt was charged with possession of a firearm as a felon, carrying weapons, interference with official acts involving a firearm and possession of marijuana third offense.

Kendrick Donnell Bruce, age 42, was also taken into custody during the incident on an arrest warrant. Bruce was also charged with for possessing ammuntion as a prohibited person. Bruce and Burt were both booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
