MASON CITY – A Des Moines man who stabbed a person in Clear Lake in September has been sent to prison for 5 years.

Jose Louis Ramos, age 28, was chased by police in Clear Lake on the afternoon of September 18 after a stabbing was reported. The victim had a large gash on a leg. Ramos was able to hide and evade law enforcement for nearly an hour before he was caught and arrested near 2101 12th Avenue South. He was charged with felony D willful injury and second degree harassment and has been jailed ever since. Ramos later pled not guilty.

However, Ramos accepted a plea deal in which he pled guilty to willful injury and third degree harassment. On November 14, judge Karen Salic sentenced Ramos to five years in prison on the willful injury charge and 15 days on the harassment charge. The sentences will run concurrently.
