WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Secret Service has arrested an Iowa man not far from the White House today with a rifle, ammo and a blade.
According to multiple news outlets, 41-year-old R.J. Kapheim of Davenport approached a Secret Service agent near the White House today and said “someone” told him to come to Washington. He was deemed suspicious, and his newer model Volkswagen parked nearby was searched, revealing a 30-30 rifle with a few dozen rounds as well as a blade.
A Secret Service spokesperson said Kapheim was arrested on charges of possessing an unregistered firearm. A search of court records did not reveal any past convictions on Iowa for Kapheim.
