MASON CITY – NIT reported last week that a bike was stolen from the Culver’s restaurant, which belonged to an employee with special needs. The bike had been parked and locked up, and was taken as the man was inside working.
Today, Mason City police reported that the bike has been found and returned to the employee, who used it as his main mode of transportation to and from work. Police received information from a concerned citizen which led to the recovery of the bike and its return to the owner.
An NIT reader who read about how the Culver’s employee had the bike stolen actually purchased a bike for the young man and had it delivered to him, just a few days after the October 23 theft occurred.
“His new bike and lock have dropped off at culvers. An early merry Christmas to him,” the NIT reader said.
Now, the man has his old bike back, plus the new one.
