Mason City High School students to attend sportsmanship summit 

educationMASON CITY – Eight Mason City High School student athletes have been selected to participate in the 2014 Pursuing Victory with Honor Summit to be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the University of Northern Iowa. The University in partnership with the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union holds this summit annually with approximately 700 student-athlete leaders from across the State of Iowa planning to attend.

The summit is a great opportunity for student-athlete leaders to learn strategies and tools to make their team stronger. These are life-long skills participants can bring back to share with their team and the entire student body.

The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Matt Davidson of the Institute for Excellence & Ethics. Participants will rotate between breakout sessions on the following topics:
Taking responsibility for self and others Managing stress by refacing and refraining
Leading through communication & “carefrontation” Developing a mindset of toughness.

Participants from Mason City High School include: 7-12 Athletic Director Robert Kenny and
student-athletes Alaina Berg, Wyatt Cooper, Mackenzie Meyer, Abbie Reed, Jake Rood, Sydney Rottinghaus, Alex Sanchez, and Quinn Slaven.
