STILLWATER, OK – Iowa State Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard made a statement following Iowa State’s football game against Oklahoma State, saying that bad calls are costing the team and putting people’s jobs on the line.
The Cyclones dropped a 37-20 loss at Oklahoma State Saturday, with at least one questionable call going against Iowa State. After the game at a press conference, Pollard stood in front of coach Paul Rhoads, and called out Big 12 refs for what he called at least three instances where calls went against his team where the conference later apologized.
Pollard ripped the officiating by conference refs, and said he acknowledges fines could be forthcoming. He said the ‘Clones keep coming out on the “short end of the stick” and that the so-called bad calls “end careers for football coaches, AD’s and presidents. And so something’s got to be done. I don’t know what it is, but there needs to be more accountability on what happens in certain situations.”
