Osage sex offender sent to prison for 6 years

OSAGE – An Osage sex offender was sent to prison for 6 years yesterday after a sentencing hearing.

Dewayne Alan Bethke, 48 of Osage was sentenced September 30, 2014 in Mitchell County District Court on two charges from June 2014. Bethke had pled guilty on August 18, 2014 to charges of Burglary 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony and Serious Assault, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Judge Chris Foy sentenced Bethke to the following:
Burglary 3rd Degree: 5 years in prison with recommendation for mental health counseling and sex offender treatment program while incarcerated, provide a DNA sample and a $750 fine.
Serious Assault: 1 year in prison to run consecutively with sentence imposed on the Burglary and a $315 fine.

Bethke pled guilty on August 18 to assault causing bodily injury and third degree burglary.

Osage police had investigated an assault on June 10 on a nature trail. The victim was a child who suffered minor injuries. On June 11th, 2014, a subject reported a burglary of several items from their residence that were then recovered at 314 Oak Street. Investigation by the officers resulted in charging Bethke with felony burglary.
