MASON CITY – A Mason City man took a plea deal in felony domestic assault and meth possession case, but is back in jail Monday.

Aaron Michael Romig, age 29, was arrested on the morning of April 1, 2014 after Mason City police officers were dispatched to 142 14th Street NW to investigate a domestic disturbance. As a result of the investigation, Romig was placed under arrest and charged with felony domestic assault involving strangulation as well as possession of a counterfeit substance – methamphetamine.

In a plea deal reached in July, Romig pled guilty to first offense domestic assault and felony drug possession. A five year prison sentence was suspended, he was ordered to pay $689.15 in court costs and fees, and he was sent to Beje Clark for 180 days.

However, Romig committed a probation violation in August, and law enforcement was unable to locate him. Police finally caught up with Romig Monday, September 22, at the Pita Pit restaurant and took him to jail. He is being held on $5,000 cash-only bond.
