Steve King has finally agreed to face his opponent, Jim Mowrer.

NIT – The man trying to send Steve King home from his perch in Washington D.C. said Saturday he is confident in a victory and is happy that a debate between the two candidates is now set.

Iowa Public Television will hold a congressional debate on Thursday, October 23 at Buena Vista University Anderson Auditorium in Storm Lake. The hour-long Iowa Press Debate begins at 7 PM in front of a live audience. The program will air live on IPTV’s primary high-definition channel and be streamed online at Iptv.org.

Dean Borg, longtime host of Iowa Public Television’s public affairs program Iowa Press, will moderate the debate.

King had avoided a debate with Mowrer until the recent announcement that a date had been set.

“Obviously I’m glad people are going to hear from Congressman King and I, and where I stand on the issues,” the Spencer Dailey Reporter reported that Mowrer said. “I’m sorry that it took this long to get it nailed down. Only someone in Congress for 12 years would take four months to answer a yes or no question.”

Mowrer said on his website that he is “confident” that he will “win this election”.
