Trail date set after 5 continuances for Spencer man accused of sexual abuse

SPENCER – A Spencer man accused of a sex crime against an underage female has a trial date set.

Challer Douglas Wadsley, age 20, was arrested on April 23 at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of felony D third degree sexual abuse.

A mandatory reporter informed the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on March 28 of an alleged sexual encounter between Wadsley and a female more than four years younger than age 19, which lead to the charge and arrest.

Wadsley posted $5,000 bond on April 28, pled not guilty and has been free awaiting trial.

On September 10, a December 10, 2014 jury trial was scheduled after at least five continuances.
