Crude Oil Summary
The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $2.40 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $94.14.
Brent crude oil rose $.54, currently priced at $98.74.
One year ago WTI crude sold for $105.42 and Brent crude was at $109.05.
Motor Fuels
As of Tuesday, September 16th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.26 across Iowa according to AAA. This is down $.06 from last week and down $.31 from one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $3.37, down $.06 from last week’s price.
Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down $.02 on the Tuesday report with a statewide average of $3.66. One year ago diesel prices averaged $3.89 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.12 per gallon lower than the national average of $3.78.
Wholesale ethanol prices were down $.09 this week, closing at $1.84. The price of Mid-Grade Blend in Iowa (10% ethanol) closed at $3.22 per gallon, down $.06 from last week’s price and $0.26 lower than one year ago.
Heating Fuels
Propane prices fell $.02 compared to last month’s price with a statewide average of $1.58 per gallon. Home heating oil fell $.07 from last month’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $3.26. Natural Gas prices in Iowa were down $.09 from last week’s report, ending the week at $3.85 / MMbtu.
