MASON CITY – A former Mason City car salesman will need to move a few more cars in order to make court-ordered payments for the next few decades stemming from an embezzlement case where he was caught by his former employer.
Timothy Behm continues to sell cars, but now in Clear Lake, after he was caught stealing at his former car sales job at Mason City Ford. He later pled guilty to seven theft charges and was ordered to pay $95,713.06 in fines costs and restitution, records now show. Behm has already paid the courts $1,830, which covers his fines, court costs, and surcharges. Behm is now left to pay the restitution and other fees, totalling $93,882.31.
At $250.00 per month, it will take Behm at least 31 years to pay off his debt, provided there is no interest.
After a long police investigation involving financial forensics, a plea deal was reached this year, and Tim Behm agreed to a trial on the minutes in exchange for charges against his father John W. Behm and brother Scott Behm being dropped. Tim Behm was originally charged with 23 felony counts of theft, forgery and fraudulent practice.
Tim Behm is still in the car business. Via social media, he lists his employment as General Manager at Pritchards Auto of Clear Lake.
