Cops evict allegedly boozed-up man from troubled hotel (photos)

MASON CITY – Employees at a hotel frequented by troublemakers once again had police over to help them get rid of an unwanted guest Friday afternoon.

Mason City police were called to the American Best Inn & Suites, 24 5th Street SW, Friday at about 3:00 PM on a report from employees that a guest’s stay was over but refused to leave. They had asked him to levee, but he refused to vacate the property, and was hanging around on the steps on the east side of the building.

Officers in two Mason City squad cars arrived to question the man. After a few minutes, one officer got a breathalyzer from the car and the man was tested. Soon thereafter, the subject, identified as 54-year-old Jess Marcotte, was allowed a cigarette and then handcuffed, put in a squad car and taken to the Cerro Gordo County jail on unspecified charges.

Marcotte, in April, pled guilty to second offense domestic abuse assault. This month, he was found guilty of contempt of court for not completing a batterer’s education class.
