Diners dash after long wait, then stopped by cops

Police Car LightsCLEAR LAKE – A long wait for food at the Clear Lake Other Place restaurant led some diners to dash and a phone call to cops.

According to a report from the Cerro Gordo sheriff’s office, Clear Lake police were called after a group of people allegedly left the Other Place restaurant in Clear Lake without paying for their meals.

Soon thereafter, a deputy located the car that was reportedly involved in the theft, with the patrons inside, near Eisenhower Avenue and 4th Street SW in Mason City. The deputy stopped the vehicle on the report from Clear Lake police and the vehicle description. The subjects who had been at the Other Place advised the deputy that they had waited for over an hour for their food so they left the restaurant. The manager from the Other Place confirmed the story and no charges were filed.
