FREDERICKSBURG – An Iowa man twice-convicted of sex crimes against children has been arrested for the second time in less than a month.
Lathan A. Schaufenbuel, age 21 of Fredericksburg, was arrested on the evening of July 31, 2014, by a Chickasaw County Deputy and turned over to a Fayette County Deputy on a valid arrest warrant. The warrant was for failure to comply with the sex offender registry. He was later released from jail.
Then, on the morning of August 19, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office picked up Schaufenbuel from Oelwein, Iowa police on a warrant for violation of probation related to his conviction of felony lascivious acts with a child. He was convicted in 2010 and 2012 of of Sexual abuse 2nd degree and lascivious acts with a child, respectively. He remained jailed, awaiting a court date.
