POWESHIEK COUNTY, IA – An Iowa woman was killed Wednesday after losing control of her car on an interstate highway.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 59-year-old Charlene Gribbons of Des Moines was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 at about the 193 mile marker Wednesday just after noon when she lost control of her 2002 Ford Focus. The car entered the north ditch and rolled, ejecting Gribbons. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, 33-year-old Christy Thomas, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
