MASON CITY – It’s no exaggeration to report that it’s getting strict in River City these days. Your house could be bulldozed if your neighbors snitch on you to city hall, and the smallest of crimes are not going un-noticed by law enforcement.
The same day that the city council threw an old man out of his house so that it could be torn to the ground, police were called on a group of people who had reportedly jaywalked.
Police responded to the area of Jefferson Avenue and 1st Street NW to talk with a person who had called police on a group of pedestrians. At the scene, there was a pick up truck with a man inside who was yelling at people who crossed in the middle of the street. According to sources, the two parties became embroiled in an argument which nearly came to blows. Police arrived and quelled the potential altercation, and the persons who were on foot were “advised of the dangers of jaywalking and of laws against it.”
No one was arrested.
