What happen to Osage merchant’s attitudes? a few years ago it seemed liked this town was moving forward, after a shopping visit/afternoon yesterday, I’ll pass on this town. Everywhere we went we got snotty attitudes.
They build a rec center with an auditorium, display it in the media to North Iowa, so proud, and then the auditorium is used for high school events 99% of the time(could of used the high school gym and saved a lot of money). Manufacturing in town started strong but fizzled out. Is it the town,chamber and business boards that are the problem?
Not impressed at all. I think Charles City stole their thunder with great town support.
They had so much promise, but old ideas crept back in and the old Osage is back.
Dose anyone know if China Buffet closed ?

Ordered a new iPod online through Walmart.com. Great deal, $100 off. Said it would be ready for pick-up Friday and to wait for confirmation.
However, no confirmation ever came. Went out there Friday anyway to check on it. Although the staff was friendly, the guy at the pick-up counter could not type very well. Had to ring a button before an employee finally appeared. He had no clue about my items (iPod and heavy-duty case). He finally found my iPod in a box right behind him. I had to ask about the case, which he then found. Kind of exasperating. Picked up a couple other items to buy and had to go through the express check-out line. Slow. Training a new employee, who was very friendly. Still, the store was kind of dark and its processes are not real good. I’ll give a generous 3 stars but I avoid this place mostly.
Terrible place which is set up to treat its customers poorly–the policies, not so much the employees.
So apparently there is a band of persons (male teens?) roaming the city pounding on doors and then running away. Two nights in a row this has been going on in certain neighborhoods in Mason City. Has anyone else experienced this? Saturday night around midnight this horde was seen pounding on doors/windows of homes and then running through Elmwood Cemetery.
They came to my house once. I chambered a round in the 12 gauge, loudly, and they’ve never come back.

The gun violence problem in America can easily be solved by adjusting sentencing and shifting focus on what crimes are actionable and worthy of incarceration. Prisons at this point should be stocked with violent offenders first. Criminals who use guns or weapons to commit crimes must face decades behind bars with no parole. Non violent crimes must be paroled and probationed. Start removing violence makers from society and place them in solitary confined situations. Violence must not be romanticized any longer.
Bernie got it right when he said Muslim states like saudi arabia and Turkey need to police their own radicals. Im not so tolerant. I despise most religion anyway, and Islam is the worst of them all in terms of freedom loving rights. Anyone ever think that the North End is being devalued so that, eventually, certain businessmen and property developers can come in, clear it out and buy it all up for pennies on the dollars, or even use taxpayers money to clean up this problem. This is what happened in LA in the 80s during the Crack epidemic and as soon as the honest people give up, Branstad, who collects 2 pensions while working???, will offer tax incentives to a chosen few to clean the areas up and the citizens will think he is a knight in shining amour, even though our property tax money will subsidize this cleansing. Or, it might just go the way of Detroit and no one will do anything, pocket taxpayer money and complain about superficial events, since no one has any real answers that don’t involve getting the police and city council to actually do their jobs. It has happen in Cedar Rapids and Waterloo and other Iowa towns. A few developers will step in and get TIF money build apartments that are either substandard or out of reach for the average wage earner and the trouble areas will move to a different part of town and this will all start over. He jumped in front of the car, waving me down then tried to open up the drivers door while telling me he was going to “F me up”. I drove away then watched in my rear view mirror him walking down middle highway chasing cars off the road. Including a semi. I called 911 and turned around to take video. I thought it might end up a shooting. He may have been on “khat”

Not just the sheriff’s department, but the police department also. Here’s a good one for you. There is a suspected drug dealer in my neighborhood. They have been arrested for drugs. The police were at their house a couple weeks ago because someone broke the window out of their vehicle. This vehicle has been driven since May with no license plates, and no dealer plates or a transfer placard. I mentioned it to the officer and he didn’t even give them a citation for no plates. Then another officer showed up, and the two officers and the owner of the vehicle were all outside chatting it up like they were all best buds. How can everyone in the neighborhood know what’s going on in that house, but the police dont? And there is still no plates on the vehicle. Ridiculous!
@anonymous-tow of my neighbors (renters) have been driving with expired plates for over three months. It really make one wonder why the rest of us should buy plates every year.
My son has gotten two tickets for no front license plate. Is the law to have a front license plate and I am not defending him, he deserve the tickets , but how can these people drive around with no license plates and not get tickets? I have seen three or four different cars driving around Mason City 1 no license plates. Makes a guy wonder.
I would call them in to the PD LVS. I have neighbors in a HUD house, (no driveway,) that park in the grass in the front yard so they only have to take two steps to get into their house and I call it in all the time. (Parking on the first level without a driveway is a violation of city code, but you see it all over town.)

New Sears store opening in January in the old Party Store location by the Mattress Outlet. Not the best location but people will go there for appliances and tools.
