MASON CITY – A convicted felon was arrested this weekend for allegedly driving a golf cart on a city street while intoxicated.
A Mason City police officer stopped Rusty Lewis Kopps, age 26, while he was driving a golf cart near 13th Street and North Washington Avenue. Â Kopps was determined by the officer to be intoxicated and arrested for second offense operating while intoxicated, no insurance and unlawful operation of a golf cart on a roadway.
Kopps was last caught for drunk driving by Cerro Gordo deputies in 2012.  He was assessed $3,013.75 in fines and fees, and has failed to make a payment on that balance.  Kopps was charged with felony burglary in 2010 in Winnebago county and given a deferred judgment, but proceeded to violate terms of his probation at least three times before a judge revoked his deferred sentence.
