MASON CITY – Two Mason City women struck plea deals after going to Wal-Mart with two men to steal.
According to police, on February 11th, 2014 at about 10:10 PM, two males and two females selected merchandise from the shelves of Wal-Mart and left the store without paying. When confronted by store employees, the suspects fled the area in a vehicle. Police said that some of the merchandise was recovered and some was not. Total value of the merchandise stolen is around $573.00 by the group. Police located and charged Tabatha Jones and Mallorie Elaine Wolcott with 3rd Degree theft. The names of the two men were not disclosed by police.
Mallorie Wolcott, age 24 of Mason City, pled guilty on July 14th to fifth degree theft after originally being charged with third degree theft. Wolcott was assessed $514.97 in fines and court costs.
Tabatha Jones, age 23 of Mason City, pled guilty on May 21st to third degree theft. Jones was sentenced to a year in jail and assessed $862.36 in fines and court costs. The next day, on May 22nd, Judge Karen Salic threw out another charge of third degree theft. Jones also pled guilty in January to third degree theft. She is serving her jail sentence at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
