WEST UNION, IOWA – The mother of a slain Iowa girl – arrested last year after an investigation by law enforcement – has pleaded guilty to felony drug charges.
Misty June Marie Morrissey, age 37 and the mother of Lyric Cook, who disappeared two years ago in Evansdale, Iowa, with her cousin – pled guilty and was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison.
Misty June Marie Morrissey was arrested by Fayette County deputies in November of 2013 after a week-long drug investigation. On November 25th, 2013 a search by law enforcement discovered that Morrissey was allegedly selling methamphetamine out of her West Union home. Morrissey was released from jail later on pre-trial supervision to the Department of Correctional Services. However, on March 3rd, 2014, Morrissey’s pre-trial release was revoked for several violations including use of illegal drugs. Deputies discovered that day that illegal narcotics were at her residence. After a search, deputies found methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia and charged Morrissey with new felony drug charges. Those charges are still being adjudicated in court.
Morrissey’s daughter Lyric and her cousin Elizabeth Collins were abducted from Meyers Lake in Black Hawk county on July 13th, 2012. In December of that year, their bodies were found at Seven Bridges Park in Bremer County. No arrests in connection with that crime have been made.

It’s too bad, cuz she kind of looks like a school teacher. Maybe it’s not too late for her to get her teaching degree and start teaching? ha ha. It goes to show folks, that usually when these white trash types end up with missing children, SOMEHOW they are culpable. Most normal, responsible and good people don’t end up with missing and dead children. The company hanging around them and their kids are usually scum.
