DAVENPORT – After three trials, an Iowa man has been found guilty of murdering his pregnant wife.
Seth Andrew Techel, age 23, was charged back in 2012 with murder in the first degree in the death of his wife, Lisa Techel, and non-consensual termination of a pregnancy. He had pled innocent. Lisa Techel was found shot to death in the couple’s Wapello county home in 2012; she was pregnant and the unborn child died.
Techel was found guilty on both charges he faced.
Two former mistrials in the case led to the trial being moved to Scott county from Wapello county. Techel, a reserve deputy, firefighter and security guard who had strong CPR skills, claimed an intruder shot his wife as they were in their home. A prosecutor said Techel did not perform CPR on his wife, however, and took a shower before calling 911.
He will face life in prison at sentencing.
