Cops chase drunk New Hampton man at speeds over 100 mph

WAUCOMA, IA – Police have charged a New Hampton man with several crimes after he refused to stop for a law enforcement officer, causing a dangerous chase to ensue.

A Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Garett Gary Tolliver, age 21, of New Hampton for an excessive speed violation on July 15th.  Tolliver, who was traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour, was north bound on county road V-68 just south of Waucoma. Deputies then observed Tolliver turn east onto 275th street and that’s when Tolliver attempted to elude the deputies for several miles.

Tolliver was eventually stopped and arrested for: Eluding a law enforcement vehicle, Serious Misdemeanor; OWI 2nd Offense, Aggravated Misdemeanor; Driving while license revoked, Serious Misdemeanor; Reckless Driving, Simple Misdemeanor, Failure to maintain control and Speeding. Tolliver was transported to the Fayette County Jail and awaits an initial appearance.
