Man and woman who led cops on search after drunken 911 call still in court

MASON CITY – They were allegedly drunk in a Mason City forest, this couple, and both find themselves still in court weeks later, albeit for different reasons.

Police searched for a man and a woman, 32-year-old Jason Thomas Lawler and 46-year-old Wendy Jo Jorgensen, who were lost in the woods north of Mason City near the Lime Creek Nature Center on June 14th after Jorgensen dialed 911 and said they were scared. Police said both were drunk, and they were placed under arrest.

Two days later, Jorgensen was found guilty of public intoxication by a jury and fined.

Lawler faces a stiffer charge – third offense public intoxication. He is awaiting a jury trial on September 30th and pre-trial conference for a possible plea deal on September 19th. He pled not guilty on July 23rd.

Jorgensen was arrested on the afternoon of July 23rd for drunk driving and no insurance. She is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail at this time on $1,000 cash or surety bond.
