Former Fort Dodge landfill director arrested

jailFORT DODGE – On Tuesday, July 22, 2014, Michael Dean Grell was arrested by the Division of Criminal Investigation for Theft by Misappropriation in the First Degree. Grell is the former co-director of the North Central Iowa Regional Solid Waste Agency. It is alleged that from early spring through the winter of 2012, the period of time when he was the co-director of the landfill, Grell used landfill equipment, personnel and other resources to remove topsoil from his private property.

1st Degree Theft is a Class C Felony punishable by up to 10 years on prison and a fine of at least $1,000 but not more than $10,000. Grell was arrested and booked in to the Webster County Law Enforcement Center.
